Grow Brooklyn’s mission is to help New Yorkers build and preserve wealth by providing free, high-quality services in tax preparation, housing counseling, legal support, and financial coaching so that every resident has the tools to thrive in their community.
With your support, we can:
- Create 45 job opportunities for local residents who complete training to become IRS-Certified Volunteer Tax Preparers for the 13-week tax season
- Prepare and file taxes for free for over 10,000 community members this season maximizing refunds with the tax credits to which they are legally entitled
- Provide one-on-one housing and financial counseling to 50 homeowners, protecting generational wealth in communities
- Draft free estate planning documents for at least 20-30 New York families, helping them secure their legacies and avoid deed loss
- Deliver free foreclosure defense support to over 10 households in NYC’s most destabilized neighborhoods
- Connect tenants and community residents to trusted financial coaches, linking them to safe banking options, credit union membership, and credit-building tools with CDFIs like Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union.
Together we can work to dismantle barriers to economic justice by providing accessible, community-rooted services in tax prep, housing, and financial empowerment and help ensure community members, regardless of income or background, has a fair shot at building lasting wealth.
